Who will like it
These wines are Napa Valley quality at affordable prices. Winery owner George Hendry is a rocket scientist. A real rocket scientist. His family has been farming the Hendry land for more than 75 years and believes that wine should be made for people to afford and enjoy. The Albariño is crisp and refreshing, making it the perfect pairing with shellfish and seafood or chilled buy the pool over the summer. The barrel fermented Chardonnay is soft and ripe with layers of oak and citrus. The Block 7 & 22 Zinfandel is food-friendly with notes of dark cherry, cola and spice. The Red Blend includes Bordeaux varietals but led by Malbec and Petite Verdot making it dark and expressive with loads of black fruit and a touch of smoke. Pick your favorite, or order a variety, they are all delicious.
Why we are highlighting this wine
I checked the weather for the next couple of weeks and it is still cool enough to ship to Texas, but the summer heat is coming and wine shipping won’t be advised at the point. So, this is the time to stock your cabinet or cellar with wonderful wines you can’t find locally but can have shipped. Of the options available, Hendry, because of the combination of quality and price, is a great winery from which to order and these are our top picks. Ground shipping to Dallas was $36.00 for 6 bottles, but drops to about $20.00 if you order a case (12 bottles), so if you don’t want to order 12 bottles it makes sense to find others to go in with you to the get the total number of bottles up to 12 so you can take advantage of the shipping special.
